You’ll walk in classic paths of high mountain, but also on an itinerary that passes through the big Verra glacier with a pass of 3840 meters of altitude of Breithorn col. The combination of classical trekking and first experiences on the glacier.
Day 1) from Champoluc climb up into the Cuneaz valley till the Pinter Pass at 2777 m. From the Pass, go down till the Walser village of Alpenzu, where you’ll find a warm and nice refuge.
Day 2) from Alpenzu go down till the road SR 505 where you’ll take a bus till the village of Staffal (10 minutes of bus), from there you’ll go up to Bettaforca Pass (2772 m) with the Monterosa Ski Resort, from the pass with 1 hour walk you’ll join the Bettolina Pass (2903 m), from where you’ll go down till the Piano di Verra Superiore. From there, with a comfortable path, you’ll arrive to the Refuge Guide d’Ayas, at 3446 m, where you’ll sleep.
Day 3) crossing of the Verra glacier, from the refuge Guide d’Ayas till Verra col at 3848 m, and from the pass, passing down of the two “twins” of the Monte Rosa, Castore and Polluce, you’ll pass through Porta Nera at 3728 m and go up to the Breithorn Pass at 3838 m. You’ll go down to Valtournanche till the mountain hut of the Guide del Cervino (3545 m) for the night.
Day 4) from the refuge, long descent through the beautiful Cime Bianche Valley till Saint-Jacques, in Ayas Valley.
